What a healthy favicon setup looks like
A clean report has no errors, an SVG plus a multi-size .ico, a 180 px Apple touch icon, and a manifest with 192 and 512 px icons including a maskable one. Warnings are not always problems: a site without a manifest simply won’t install nicely on Android, which may be fine for a blog.

What does the favicon checker test?
It loads your page’s HTML, lists every icon link (rel="icon", apple-touch-icon, mask-icon) and the web manifest, then fetches each file to confirm it exists, is a real image, is square and matches its declared size. It also checks /favicon.ico and /apple-touch-icon.png at the root, and whether Google has a 48 px-multiple icon to use.
Can I download a site’s favicon with this?
Yes. Every icon the checker finds is shown with a Save button, so it doubles as a favicon extractor. Respect the site owner’s trademark when reusing a logo.
Why does the checker say my favicon is an HTML page?
Your server answered the icon URL with a web page, usually a single-page-app fallback or a custom 404 page returning status 200. Make sure the file is actually deployed at that path.
The checker finds my icon but Google still shows a globe. Why?
Google recrawls favicons on its own schedule, which can take weeks. Make sure the icon is linked from the home page, is not blocked by robots.txt, and is square and a multiple of 48 px. You can request re-indexing of the home page in Search Console.
Do you store the URLs I check?
No. The URL is fetched once to produce the report and is not logged or saved. Recent checks are remembered only in your own browser, and you can clear them.
